In a culturally responsive teaching and learning environment, a teacher is expected to know the cultural background of his or her students.  Culturally responsive learning does not only involve knowing the culture of the students.  Teachers have to adopt cultural responsive teaching since their students have different cultural background. Understanding the cultural background of different students helps a teacher know how to best deal with different students.
